Fussy Cloud Puppet Slam is back with the Second Volume of our new Performance Series featuring HAPPY ACCIDENT & oW wOw mEoW. This series was started to bring full-length adult-oriented puppetry performances to Seattle and Volume 2 promises excellence in puppetry from both sides of the USA! Both full-length acts ooze a d.i.y punk aesthetic and a delightful sense of anarchism that audiences will not want to miss!
HAPPY ACCIDENT - Everything is Nothing Volume 1
Belching forth from the glorified backwater village of Portland, OR, HAPPY ACCIDENT’s work explores the exponential pace of overwhelming absurdity in our world. Found objects, large-scale puppets, and sputtering lights bring you face to face with the cuddly nightmare that is everyday life. An anti-clown car driven by puppeteer Liz HOWLS and co-piloted by musician/lighting enthusiast Drew Simpson, HAPPY ACCIDENT ecstatically careens down the wrong side of the lost highway, leaving a trail of old copies of Weekly World News and Jack in the Box wrappers in its wake. Colorfully reimagining Saturday mornings spent drooling over piles of synthetic crap in front of the TV, Happy Accident revels in naked, antipathetic Americana. You will probably laugh, you might cry, and like other designer drugs, you will want more within minutes. Ultimately, you will ask yourself, “What kind of culture would produce something like this?”
oW wOw mEoW - Let Them Eat Melon
oW wOw mEoW is a puppet duo, anti-folk band, and experimental performance duo made up by pompom pirate and cornbread jimmy sweet. Their work often involves Interactive storytelling, absurdist musical punk theater, “body horror, but cute,” clowning trees, existential bathroom humor, anarchist memes, dinner party executions, ex-boyfriend exorcisms, vandalism, carcinization, and surprise crowd surfing. You’ll come into an OWM show with nervous anticipation and leave saying, “I can’t believe I traded my tickets to Wrestlemania for this shit.” oW wOw mEoW presents their surrealist puppet punk show: Let Them Eat Melon: A puppet show inside a watermelon, inside a stomach, inside of an anti-folk music show, looking at themes of microbial ecosystems, health autonomy, death, and decay, and connecting systems of body to systems of ecology and politics.
Fussy Cloud Puppet Slam has been keeping the Pacific Northwest weird since 2011. We present eclectic evenings of short-form puppetry for puppet-curious adults. Each volume features a rotating lineup of artists bringing new short-form puppet works to the stage, filled with creativity and chaos.
