JOANNA MANOUSIS & ZAC WEINBERG | TRANSFORMING LIGHT

Through two distinct approaches to glass, the artists explore how light can reveal, activate, and transform our understanding of objects, materials, and the systems shaping the spaces around us. An opening reception with the artists will be held Saturday, July 11, from 3–5 pm. Working in glass, mirrors, and mixed media, Manousis investigates the relationship between light, perception, and human experience. Building upon her doctoral research into dimensional mirrors within cast glass, she creates sculptures that shift with changing light and viewpoint. Reflection, distortion, texture, and illusion become active elements within the work, inviting viewers to consider the relationship between object, surface, and the act of looking. Weinberg approaches glass through material experimentation and process. Combining industrial float glass with conductive materials and digital fabrication techniques, he creates sculptures that expose their own internal systems. Rather than concealing how they function, the works reveal the pathways of light and electricity, offering a thoughtful response to the increasingly hidden technologies that shape everyday life. Together, Manousis and Weinberg use glass to reveal unexpected relationships between light, material, and perception. Throughout Transforming Light, light becomes more than illumination; it activates each work, encouraging viewers to look closely and experience the continual transformation of object and space.
