LuLu Lucy: A Musical for Young Audiences - A Staged Reading and Sing-Through
With music and lyrics by local St. Louis composer John Gerdes and book and lyrics by LA playwright Tim Bryant, this reading and sing-through of "LuLu Lucy" features a full cast on book with an 8-pc. orchestra. It's the story of a young girl from rural Kentucky who moves to a strange and hostile new city, Los Angeles. Feeling awkward and out-of-place, Lucy befriends an elderly curmudgeon in her building who teaches her to play the trumpet and how to express herself through music. Lucy then competes with the neighborhood kids in an exciting talent show that brings everyone together in a mutual love of music. "LuLu Lucy" incorporates a diversity of musical genres, including jazz, hip-hop, country, and opera. Be the first to experience this show before it goes on to a fully staged world premiere.
