Illinois Defense Counsel Bench & Bar: Procedure, Etiquette, and Decorum in the Courtroom
Attorneys in the early stages of their careers will have an opportunity to gain practical guidance on courtroom procedure, etiquette and decorum during Bench and Bar: Procedure, Etiquette, and Decorum in the Courtroom on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m. at Tavern on Main, 301 E. Main St., Belleville. The in-person event includes a buffet lunch.
The program will feature Hon. Heinz Rudolf, Circuit Judge of the 20th Judicial Circuit, and is designed especially for attorneys in their first decade of practice. From courtroom procedure to professional demeanor, Judge Rudolf will share candid observations on what judges notice, what builds credibility and how preparation and conduct can influence outcomes. The discussion will also address how attorneys can confidently handle unexpected moments in court. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and suggest additional topics, making the program an interactive opportunity to learn directly from the bench.
The program has been approved for 1.0 hour of continuing legal education credit by the Illinois MCLE Board. Registration is available at idc.law. Registration fees are $35 for private practice attorneys, public sector attorneys, educators and students. Claims professionals and corporate or association counsel may attend at no cost
