Tucson Masterworks Chorale presents Breathing in the Awe
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, this special concert brings together the voices, stories, and musical traditions that have shaped the nation’s cultural landscape. Featuring works by notable American composers, the program highlights the country’s rich tapestry of musical expression—from the heartfelt simplicity of folk hymns like Zion’s Walls to the spiritual depth of Wade in the Water, the luminous beauty of Sure on This Shining Night, and the iconic Broadway melodies of Somewhere from West Side Story and Embraceable You.
At the heart of the evening is a newly composed work by Artistic Director and Conductor Luke Diamond, written in honor of America’s national parks. This premiere invites listeners on a sweeping musical journey through the country’s most treasured landscapes, celebrating the natural wonders that have inspired generations.
