Tunes @ Noon: Leon Russell Birthday Celebration
April 2 | 12:00–1:00 PM
Brad Absher & The Superials
The Church Studio will celebrate what would have been Leon Russell’s 84th birthday with a special Tunes @ Noon concert on April 2, featuring Southern Soul powerhouse Brad Absher & The Superials. The performance honors the hometown legacy of Leon Russell and the enduring influence of the Tulsa Sound inside the historic recording studio he founded in 1972.
Launched in March 2024, Tunes @ Noon has quickly become a popular midday tradition in Tulsa, presenting live one-hour concerts from local and regional artists inside the legendary home of Shelter Records. Performances take place from 12:00–1:00 PM, offering audiences an intimate music experience in one of Oklahoma’s most historic recording spaces.
Admission includes both the concert and a docent-led tour of The Church Studio, allowing visitors to explore the recording rooms where Leon Russell worked and where Steve Ripley of The Tractors later carried the studio’s legacy forward.
Upcoming performances in the series highlight the diversity of Tulsa’s music community, bringing together rising artists, cultural celebrations, and tributes to the musical legacy that continues to shape the city’s sound.
