Cathedral Brass (CB) is a distinguished brass and percussion ensemble bringing together musicians from throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. The ensemble includes current and former professional performers, as well as active and retired members of the United States Service Bands. This unique 22-piece ensemble is known for its artistic versatility—performing traditional brass literature alongside jazz-influenced works and innovative arrangements drawn from popular culture. Many of these custom arrangements are created by talented members of Cathedral Brass, reflecting the ensemble’s commitment to creativity and musical exploration.
Cathedral Brass is pleased to announce that the 4th Annual Day of Brass will feature two outstanding guest clinicians:
• James Nickel, Hornist with the National Symphony Orchestra
• Sergeant First Class Chris Buckley, Euphonium Performer with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”
Both clinicians possess extensive and impressive backgrounds in professional performance and music education. During the event, they will work directly with participating students through instrument-specific sectionals focused on the selected repertoire, as well as masterclasses covering topics of their choosing. These sessions are designed to inspire, educate, and challenge young musicians while providing meaningful insight into high-level performance and musicianship.
In addition, John Cradler, Conductor of the Cathedral Brass Youth Brass Ensemble, will lead all registered participants in a mass brass ensemble, offering students the rare opportunity to perform alongside peers from across the region in a large-scale collaborative setting.
The Day of Brass is offered at no cost and is open to students in grades 7–12. Participation is limited to registered students.
To participate, students must register online at: www.cathedralbrass.org/DayOfBrass
