THE SHOPS AT WALDORF CENTER TO HOST SUNFLOWER FESTIVAL
The Shops at Waldorf Center, an open-air lifestyle shopping center located just minutes from the Capital Beltway in Waldorf, Maryland (www.theshopsatwaldorfcenter.com), will host the Sunflower Festival, a family-friendly community event designed to raise awareness of autism and other hidden disabilities. The celebration will feature arts and crafts, sensory tables, story time with a superhero character, sunflower planting, music, dancing, a Sunflower Sidewalk dedication, food trucks, vendors and more. The event will highlight the work of featured charity Accessibility Bridge, a nonprofit that advocates for access and opportunity for individuals with disabilities and their families. The sunflower theme also reflects the internationally recognized Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, a program which helps people with non-visible disabilities discreetly signal that they may need extra time, patience or assistance in public places.
