Our concert, “Reaching Home” will feature Emmy Award-winning British composer, Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light: A Requiem. Centering on the experience of those left behind, Goodall’s requiem offers a profound reflection on grief and comfort. Instead of focusing solely on the salvation of the deceased, Eternal Light celebrates the solace found in music while acknowledging the painful reality of loss. This beautiful composition combines familiar liturgical text with poetry and hymns.
This concert will also feature André J. Thomas’ Mass: A Celebration of Love and Joy. This five-movement piece adheres to the traditional liturgical structure of the Mass while being reimagined through the lens of gospel rhythm and harmony.
In addition, we will present Bob Chilcott’s Nidaros Jazz Mass. This innovative mass seamlessly integrates ancient liturgical texts with contemporary jazz. The composition transitions effortlessly from contemplative ballads to vibrant, blues-infused, and high-energy movements.
