The Legend of Sleepy Hollows Comes to Life at Chase Farm on October 5th

Chase Farm Park in Lincoln hosts this special family event. The classic 19th century tale of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving comes to life with Ichabod Crane and the headless horseman riding atop the magnificent horse, Aurora. Performed outdoors around the 19th century Pullen's Corner Schoolhouse, Lincoln's last one-room schoolhouse, by members of the Rhode Island Stage Ensemble. The dramatic appearance from the Headless Horseman atop his horse will provide thrills and chills as he rides through the "bridge" to scare Ichabod who has come to this town to teach at the one-room schoolhouse. Old-fashioned lawn games will be guided by youth in colonial costume who are volunteers at the Pullen's Corner Schoolhouse. A "wizard" will lead those who want to be creative into the wand-making workshop to create a magic wand adorned with jewels and beads. Adding to the fun will be the horse-drawn Creepy Hollow Hayrides, with spooky tales told aboard the ride, as an optional feature. Children 12 and under may come dressed in their Halloween costume and participate in the Children’s Halloween costume parade, led by Ichabod and the Headless Horseman. Great photo opportunities with the horse and around the park. Refreshments will be available for purchase. This spooky spectacular experience may be enjoyed by all ages. Tickets in advance only with limited capacity for the program. Tickets are available for purchase through www.greatroadheritagecampus.org. Cost is $18 for adults and over age 13; age 12 and under free. The event is hosted by the Friends of Hearthside, an all-volunteer organization that serves to preserve, protect and promote the history of the historic sites at the Great Road Heritage Campus at Chase Farm Park. All proceeds benefit the continued programming to bring history to life. Navigant Credit Union is the corporate sponsor for the event.
