Coriolano: A Texican Tragedy

Walking Shadow Shakespeare Project is excited to announce that our spring production will be performed at Pease Park on Sunday, May 24 at 7pm. Celebrating Texas's rich past and present diversity, we are setting this Shakespeare play in the 1830s to showcase how ancient Roman stories resonate with our own local history. Demian Chavez Galvan's multilingual script adaptation highlights the tensions between Mexican and Texian cultures while also weaving in France's influence on the historical landscape. Our cast, directed by Andrew Mendoza, features 21 Texas artists, many of whom are bilingual, to bring these nuanced characters to life. The show is free to attend and all ages are welcome, noting that there will be simulated violence on stage.
