Kern Oil Documentary

After a successful premiere at the Fox Theater in Bakersfield, the film now comes to Taft — one of the most historic oil towns in California. Kern Oil highlights the hardworking men and women of the local oilfields and examines the role the industry continues to play in the region and the state.
The evening will include a red carpet welcome, a screening of the film, and a chance to meet the filmmakers behind the project.
Filmmaker Rickey Bird Jr., a third-generation oil worker and Kern County native, spent years capturing the stories, history, and challenges facing the local oil community. The documentary brings together interviews with industry leaders, workers, historians, and community voices.
