WADING: A solo exhibition by Titus Wonsey
Wading examines the tension among lore, myth and material truth — how we move through murky systems of power, bumping up against the trappings down below, and sifting through the evidence on the surface that tells us where we are. Wonsey recontextualizes home objects and familiar forms; to confront them as material evidence of an ongoing negotiation with structures that shape movement, value and visibility.
Chicago based interdisciplinary artist Titus Wonsey mines and merges familiar objects, materials and processes, highlighting our relationships to these things through repetition, misuse, documentation etc. to find shared conceptual foundations for exploring his work. These shared things connect us and also give us access to our unique personal histories with everyday forms and materials
