Cultural Experience Stations
Station 1: African Storytelling Workshop
• Small space area
• Duration: 1 hour
• Interactive storytelling rooted in African oral traditions
Station 2: African Dance & Rhythm Experience
• Main Stage
• Duration: 1 hour
• Learn a simple African dance
• Optional: live drum circle
Station 3: African Small Plates & Hors d’Oeuvres/ Authentic Foods/drink
• Lobby and Bar
• Duration: 45 minutes
• Guests sample authentic African flavors
• Quick service; guests may take plates with them
Station 4: African-Inspired Puppet & Art Making
• Small space area
• All ages welcome
• Duration: 1 hour
• Create African animal paper-bag puppets using art supplies and strips of African cloth
Each group will rotate through the stations and be guided by a designated host (Griot) dressed in African attire.
Designated hosts for the event are volunteer members of Hardworktellingstories Theater Group. Hardworktellingstories is a theatre and event organization committed to bringing exciting stories and fun events to the Chicago community
