Constance Volk Exhibits New Work Alongside Samuel Leopold at Leslie Wolfe Gallery

An opening reception with the artists will be held on Sunday, February 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and is open to the public. Volk’s paintings are created using a self-developed technique she calls “Channeling.” Beginning with a clay and cotton cord foundation on canvas, Volk forms raised pathways that allow liquid reactive oil to flow and marble over a multi-day curing process. The resulting compositions invite viewers to explore each painting as a landscape, revealing intricate, organic patterns that echo natural systems and environmental rhythms. Samuel Leopold’s work is inspired by architectural concepts and spatial experimentation. Working primarily in oils, Leopold blends landscape, surrealism, and abstraction to create fictional skylines and imagined structures. His paintings often include architectural forms that exist only as concepts, paired with symbolic elements and heightened color. A painted cutout integrated into many of his works has become a developing trademark, reinforcing his belief that each piece should function as a complete composition. Together, Volk and Leopold offer complementary approaches to navigating space—one rooted in organic flow and material process, the other in constructed form and conceptual architecture.
