In the tradition of Schweikher House owners Martyl and Alex Langsdorf, please join us for a summer soiree featuring blooming peonies. Enjoy rare photos of Alex Langsdorf and celebrate his birthday along with food, drinks, our historic house and of course, peonies!
Our celebration falls on Dr. Alex Langsdorf's birthday this year. We'll have photos and anecdotes of Alex scattered throughout house and studio to honor the amazing father, scientist and caretaker he was. From building several of the earliest particle accelerator cyclotrons in the late 1930s to serving on the District 211 school board in 1971 to shoveling several feet of snow at the Schweikher House during the blizzard of 1979, Alex was an amazing human.
Your ticket supports our growing programs such as guided tours, lectures and our very popular salon concerts as well as the maintenance of our growing collection onsite. Your donations and attendance also helps us grow our team, acquire additional Martyl paintings and Schweikher ephemera to enhance our onsite exhibits.
The Schweikher House was built in 1938 as Modernist architect Paul Schweikher’s home and studio. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a local Schaumburg landmark, the AIA Illinois top 200 architectural sites in Illinois, a longstanding member of Docomomo Chicago and a member of Iconic Houses.
If you're unavailable to join us at the Peony Party, please consider making a donation to the Schweikher House Preservation Trust. Thank you for your support!
A big THANK YOU to our generous sponsors: Schaumburg Bank & Trust and the Schaumburg Park District.
Please consider them for your business and activities!
