On Freedom’s Doorstep: A Celebration of Cincinnati Black History


Heritage Village Museum and The Voice of Black Cincinnati will host On Freedom’s Doorstep: A Celebration of Cincinnati Black History on Saturday, June 6, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Heritage Village Museum in Sharon Woods Park. This event celebrates the lives and contributions of Black Cincinnatians from the city’s chartering in 1788 to the end of World War I in 1919. Invited activities are as follows: Black Art Exhibit Story Telling Black Brigade Military Interpretation Simulated Underground Railroad Experience Praise and Worship Ancestry – Make Your Family Tree Quilting History and Demonstration Morse Code History and Demonstration Spoon-Making Demonstration Hearth Cooking Children’s Games Historic Interpreters in Period Clothes African Drummers Food Trucks and Vendors Admission to On Freedom’s Doorstep: A Celebration of Cincinnati Black History Advance online tickets will be available for $8 per person closer to the event. At the door, admission is $10 per adult ages 12-64. Adults ages 65+, children ages 4-11, and SNAP beneficiaries with identification are $5. Heritage Village Museum members and all children under 3 are free.
