Storied Saloons: Local History Happy Hour at Cheshire

If the walls of your local watering hole could talk, what would they say? Rochester is no stranger to time-tested taverns and contemporary bars housed in historic buildings. Each of these edifices has a story to tell. What better time to hear them than during happy hour? Storied Saloons: Local History Happy Hours explores the history of some of Rochester’s most interesting and iconic bar-boasting buildings. If you enjoy learning and libations, pull up a stool and join us as we uncover the past of a different tavern during each session of this exciting off-site series. June Session: Cheshire The building that now houses Cheshire has stood on the corner of South Clinton Avenue and Gregory Street since 1889. Since then, it has housed a variety of tenants and businesses including a grocery, a hotel, and a series of popular taverns and restaurants. Join us as FFRPL Board President and proud downtown resident Sally Millick details the history of this South Wedge structure and Cheshire proprietor Evvy Fanning shares the story of how she and her staff converted the space into a beloved cocktail bar.
