The Erie Canal not only fueled Rochester’s economic development, but it also helped diversify the local population as it spurred the settlement of immigrants and migrants with varying religious, social, and political viewpoints. The tour details the canal’s rise and decline and showcases the many ways in which the waterway transformed the Rochester community. Meet on the north side of the Rundel Memorial Building for this 1-mile-long tour.
