With Tampa Theatre’s historic auditorium closed for restoration ahead of its 100th anniversary in October, the majestic movie palace is taking the show on the road with a series of FREE Summer Sing-Along Screenings on select Sundays at Sparkman Wharf, presented by QC®.
Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), an ambitious and driven young witch who is misunderstood and outcast because of her green skin, and Galinda (Ariana Grande), an enchanting charmer and definitely one of the popular girls, become unlikely friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. Wicked! First it was a 1995 novel reimagining/expanding on plot elements in The Wizard of Oz, then it was a gigantic smash-hit Broadway musical, then it was a genre of TikToks, then it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, and now you personally can finally belt out “Defying Gravity” at the volume it deserves. 2h 40m / PG / Musical, Fantasy
The first 100 guests at each show will also receive a free LED fan, courtesy of series sponsor QC, and a free bag of Tampa Theatre’s famous popcorn, starting at 6:00 pm.
